After working at Rasputin today, I realized that Hip Hop and R&B are taking over the pop charts. Yeah, I know how slow am I? But it's true, the top selling items are hip hop and R&B. Rock runs at a much more steady rate, with sales going to more artists, not concentrated on a couple of bands. I wonder if 20 years from now if rock music will be as faded as blues or as watered down as modern jazz, and have even less interest. People keep talking about resurgences of rock time and time again but really never gets a good long boost. It always fades quickly. Let's face it, the last 15 years in Hip Hop have been what some would call the golden era of the genre. And I guess that would explain the domination of the pop charts and all.
Also, I found a really good pizza place right by Rasputin that serves huge slices...really, really bad thing. I love pizza and sometimes eat too much of it. Now I have to resist the urge to spent $3 for a delicious dinner. Sucks, because for the most part, I have been amazingly good at resisting bad food since I've been out here. Urrgh.
So I started Jay McInerney's Story Of My Life yesterday. Fucking hilarious so far. So, do ya think that Jay and Brett are friends when they're using each others' characters and doing funny things to them? Definitely not a coincidence. But still, cute and charming. I'll give'em that.
